Forest Grove High School’s Equestrian team might not be an official sport through the school, but that didn’t stop them from bringing home a gloriously large trophy from the state meet in mid-May. After placing first at districts, the girls went to state where twelve out of the fourteen team members qualified for the Pacific Northwest Invitational Championships in both individual and team events. The entire team placed 3rd in drill and Marlee James, a sophomore, placed 8th alone in dressage ad 3rd in biwrangle with Kylie Bettis, also a sophomore. Alex Jones placed 8th in saddle seat and Daisy Pratt and Breanna Holmes, juniors, together placed 4th in working pairs.

Alex, a sophomore, says “every member worked hard and devoted many hours to keep up with schoolwork while practicing as hard as they could,” and would also like to thank her teammates for their passionate dedication to the team. “Equestrian meets last 5 days and events go on as long as 14 hours each day. It’s really a time commitment,” Daisy Pratt explains, but their devotion proves valuable as they advance to the Northwest Championships from June 18th until June 20th hosted in Moses Lake Washington.
