Previously, in The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3: Part 2, we see Jeremiah cheat and propose to Belly, and they start planning the wedding even though their parents don’t approve. We also see that a week before their wedding, Belly confessed that she only ever pictured marrying Conrad.
That moment was when both Belly and Taylor realized that Belly wasn’t sure if her feelings for Conrad were gone. Later that night, Belly thought Jeremiah was waiting for her at the beach because she had told him to meet her there. Once she arrived at the beach, she noticed Conrad was sitting at the lighthouse, not Jeremiah. She started making small talk with Conrad until he told her how Jeremiah had cheated on her with a girl from her college named Lacy Barone. Once Belly explained to him that she already knew about Jeremiah cheating, Conrad immediately got upset and started saying how could she be okay to put up with that, and she isn’t the type of girl to take that from a guy. After that, Belly dared to say that Conrad shouldn’t be talking because she had put up with worse with him when they were together, to which Conrad immediately responded with “I didn’t even so much look at another girl when we were together”. After hearing that, Belly immediately tried to leave and told Conrad not to follow her. Meanwhile, Conrad didn’t listen and kept following her, telling her that he still loved her. Belly stopped for a moment and told him to leave the beach house. She told him she never wanted to see him again and left. Once she reached the house, she went up to her bedroom and crawled into bed sobbing, while Jeremiah and his friends were drunk outside.
A week later was going to be Jeremiah and Belly’s wedding at the town’s country club. On the day of the wedding, both Jeremiah and Belly received a letter that was from Susanna. In the letter, it said how proud Susanna was of Jeremiah and Belly, but at the bottom of Jeremiah’s letter, it had been signed off to Conrad. At that moment, Jeremiah realized that even his mom knew Conrad and Belly were meant to be. While Belly was getting ready, Conrad came into her dressing room and told her she wouldn’t be attending her wedding because he was leaving for California, as she wanted. Belly was left silent while Conrad gave her a forehead kiss and left. After he left, Belly began crying until Jeremiah walked in, saying that Conrad was leaving. When Belly told him, Jeremiah got upset and told her he knew she still had feelings for Conrad, but he didn’t care. When Belly told him to call off the wedding, he began saying how he knew about Conrad and the Christmas party, and that was why he picked a fight with her before he left for Cabo during spring break. The wedding was called off a few hours later, and Belly impulsively booked a flight to Paris for her internship at the Airport. As she was about to board, she saw Conrad sitting waiting for his flight, but before he got the chance to see her, she boarded her plane and left for Paris, leaving everything behind.
A few months go by, and Belly is living her life in Paris, where she meets a guy named Benito and begins dating him. Meanwhile, Conrad was still thinking about Belly and how she was doing. Conrad wrote letters to belly but she never responded until one day she responded to one of his letters and gave him her new address. When Conrad received the letter, he sent her a book with a pack of Junior Mints, her favorite candy. Later on, Conrad booked a flight to Paris and said it was for work. In reality, he wanted to see Belly for her birthday. When Conrad arrived, he sensed a vibe between Belly and Benito, so he didn’t make a move on her until later, when one of Belly’s friends said that they had broken up. The night before Conrad was leaving for California, he made a move on Belly, but after Belly told him that his love for her wasn’t real and it was just a fantasy his mom had for them. He left her apartment and left for the Airport after hearing that. Once Conrad left Belly realized how she messed up and left to the airport after him while wearing the necklace he gave her for her 16 birthday and once she got on the plane he was on she told him she chose him over anything and Conrad stayed in Paris until they went back together to cousins to visit the beach now that they were together in a relationship.
