Dear future freshman, I hope you are excited for your freshman year. Many people make freshman year sound scary; it can be for a while, but I can say from personal experience It’s not as scary as it seems. Freshman year is only as scary as you make it; things like not trying to make friends in a class you don’t have friends in is going to make the class not very fun.
As sad as it sounds, in high school you find out who your true friends are, and you lose some friends, and you gain new friends. Not everyone is your friend. It’s important to make sure you know who your true friends are. As important as it is to have friends in your class it’s even more important to lock in on your grades, turn things in on time, and not procrastinate doing your work because the more procrastinating you do more of your work will just keep piling up then that is when it can be scary because it will feel like you can’t catch up but even if you feel that way at least get as much as you can done. Staying organized is also very important because knowing when things are due and knowing what tests are coming up is going to help you figure out when you need to study. It’s important to ask questions; not asking questions is a big mistake, especially when you don’t understand something, and you are behind. Teachers tend to prefer when you ask questions early on rather than asking once you are behind.
Creating study habits is so important because it always comes in handy when you need help with your work, especially when your friend knows what they are doing and you don’t. Asking for help from your friends is important because maybe they have a better understanding of what you are struggling with, and they can explain it to you in a way that you can understand. If your worried about not getting work turned in on time don’t worry about not having time to do your work because you have A days and B days usually student work on their A day stuff during their B days so you have time since your A day is your first 4 classes of your schedule and your B days are your last 4 classes of your schedule so you don’t have to worry about finishing your homework and turning it in the next day.
Some people may get confused by the bell schedule because it’s different from a middle school’s. In comparison to middle school, we only have 4 classes, and they’re all 1 hour and 30 minutes long. As for the lunches, it depends on which floor you’re on: if you’re on the top floor, you have second lunch; if you’re on the bottom floor, you have 1st lunch. I hope this advice helps if you are nervous about your freshman year, and I hope you have an amazing freshman year!
