Mexico is known for its beauty and many resorts, but it is also known for its high rates of crime. The most common criminal activities that happen all over Mexico are drug trafficking, homicide, kidnapping, and theft. These types of activities usually happen in the larger popular cities or the cities near a border. Like, for example, Tijuana, Michoacan, Jalisco, Guanajuato, and Mexico City.
All over Mexico, there have been over 300 thousand homicides; most of these murders are done by firearms or by beatings. These murders happen to the people who sometimes are desperate and do deals with people they shouldn’t (the cartel or Narcos). They might get overwhelmed and make deals with people, thinking it might be a one-time thing, but once you enter the game, there is no going back. The deals these people make are transporting drugs from the borders to the US, and once you think you have made enough money, one might think to call the police or just simply decline their calls, but what people don’t realize in that they will find out your every move, they’ll threaten you and your family if you say no and if you do get away with calling the police you would have to live in fear because the cartel is not just one small group they wont let anything slide they will hunt you down until they find you. That is why many people go missing; they get involved with the wrong people and simply disappear.
A case happened recently in Jalisco, Mexico, where the most wanted cartel leader was killed. This event happened on February 22 of this year when he was on his way to Mexico City. He was killed while trying to be captured by the US military, where his gunmen and troops started to fire at the military when the cartel leader was wounded by a gunshot and died while on the way to medical treatment. This event caused much outrage and commotion throughout Mexico, not only in Jalisco, and without a leader, more crimes were happening daily.
All over Mexico, there have been many kidnappings throughout the years. These kidnappings tend to happen mostly to young girls because they are used for human trafficking. These young girls are usually sold to old, weird men. Different types of kidnappers kidnap all kinds of people for the exchange of a ransom from their families. There have also been many cases where young teenagers plan their own kidnapping to spite their parents or try to get money out of them, not caring if the parents are worried for their kid, thinking that the kid is kidnapped when, in reality, the kid planned it himself.
A crime that doesn’t happen often is robbery. There haven’t been many reports of robbery, but it does happen. Most little shops in Mexico get robbed by people and get their merchandise stolen, and all the money they have made, because people in Mexico find it easier to rob a store and get the stuff for free than to work hard for it like other people they steal from.
Overall, there will always be some type of criminal activities happening in Mexico, no matter how hard people or the government try to stop these crimes, they will always continue to happen, so to the wrong mindset people who like the easy way in life.
