At only the age of 13, Tate gained prominence as the first Canadian finalist on the American reality TV show “ So You Think You Can Dance” in 2005. Tate was born on July 1, 2003, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Tate gained a lot of attention from RCA Records in 2019 after an OG song, “One Day.” In 2017, it went viral on TikTok.
Now that was just the beginning of Tate’s music career. Tate released her debut EP “All the Things I Ever Said” in 2020. This gained her a lot more recognition after she released her song “You broke me first.” It became an international hit. In 2020, Tate became the youngest musician featured on the Forbes 30 Under 30 list. She then released her second EP, “Too Young to Be Sad,” in 2021, which was the most-streamed female EP on Spotify. Tate released her debut studio album “I used to think I could fly” on May 27th 2021.

Outside of all her crazy music writing, dancing, and singing, Tate is very good at choreographing her shows and music videos. Tate stands out because she has an incredible range, which stands out among the “typical singers.”
Despite Tate being super good at singing and dancing, she was not nominated for a Grammy until the 2026 Grammys. She was nominated for best pop recording for her song “Just Keep Watching” from the F1 movie. Tate found out she was nominated by none other than her own mother. In an interview with Vogue, Tate talks about how she found out she got the nomination. “I was waking up for my second-to-last show, and the first text I saw was from my mom: ‘Good morning, my Grammy-nominated artist.’ Honestly, it was so cute. That was just the cherry on top of an already insane year.” Despite being nominated for a Grammy, she did not win one, but she still has so many more chances to win one.
I think Tate is an amazing artist, and she should be more recognized by people. Tate is such an amazing vocalist, and her music is so good for teenage girls who need someone to relate to and feel less alone. Tate for sure has a long, bright future ahead of her, and she is only at the beginning of her journey.
