Her Life Story
In St.Louis, Missouri, on November 8th, 1989, SZA was born between Audry and Abdul Rowe. She is currently 36 years old as of 2026. When Solana was a child, her parents decided to move to Maplewood, New Jersey. Solana at this time was around 11 to 12 years old, attending both a Muslim prep school and a public school at the same time. She always wore a hijab and dressed in baggy clothes to conform to the ideals of modesty to fit in. Solana had often fallen victim to judgment, alienation, and bullying at her age, given her race and ethnicity. She was one of the few black people in her predominantly white community. She was also mocked and bullied for wearing her hijab after the events of 9/11, causing her to remove her hijab to fit in despite her love of Muslim culture. When Solana was in high school, she would still often get bullied because she was outgoing but also because she was very awkward. Solana recalled not attending her own senior prom because she both “didn’t have any friends” and “had no one to go to prom with.” Regardless, she still pushed through to make her music career big. SZA mentioned that bullying is what shaped her into who she is today. She also declared her high school experience as the turning point for her to chase her dreams by any means. She refused to allow her Maplewood neighborhood to be her final destination on her path to success. Once she finally graduated from high school in 2008, she decided that she wanted to study marine biology, so she applied to 3 different universities and got into Delaware State University. After a while, Solana started to drink and smoke marijuana, which started to affect her school work and caused her to fail multiple courses. After a week, she dropped out of school in her final semester and got a job later on. Solana started to work at a strip club as a bartender and earned money. In 2011, Solana began delivering clothes to people and started learning how to make them. Solana slowly started to get well-known.
Her Career
For a while, Solana was always delivering sets of clothes to people. She went to deliver a set, and she ran into the members of Top Dawg Entertainment (a significant record label also known as TDE), which led to Solana having a big opportunity to make her music career big. The members heard her out and listened to her recording and were stunned by her talent. Since then, Solana became the first female artist signed with TDE. Her stage name was and still is SZA, which also stands for the acronym formed by the initials of each letter in her stage name: the S stands for self, Z is for zig-zag, and A is for the most high for all. In 2013, SZA released her mixtape called See.SZA.Run. Since then, she released an album in 2017 called Ctrl. SZA’s fans loved her album, and that made SZA happy because she loved seeing her fans happy. The trending songs she has recently released are named Kill Bill, Snooze, Good Days, Nobody Gets Me, and Low. Also, some of her albums are SOS and SOS Deluxe: LANA. SZA’s career has gone up, and she has become more famous with all the songs she has released. She loves all her fans who have supported her in pursuing a music career and being there.
