Drake is a talented singer and actor. Drake is 39 years old and was born in Toronto, Canada, in 1986. When he was a little boy, he began to love listening to and singing music. That is when Drake knew he wanted to become a singer. Drake’s parents, Sali Graham and Dennis Graham, have been supporting Drake’s pursuit of a singing career. But instead of pursuing a singing career, Drake decided to get a job so he could make his dream come true. So in the process of finding a job, he decided to become an actor to save up money.
His Career
Drake started as a young actor at age 15. Drake met his high school friend’s dad, who was a talent agent and got Drake a role in a show called Degrassi: The Next Generation. Drake played a character named Jimmy Brooks. In his role as Jimmy Brooks, Drake played a popular high school basketball star. Drake was happy to play him, but also had mixed feelings about it because in a scene, Jimmy Brookes (Drake) was shot and became wheelchair-bound, so Drake thought that it would become a problem for his future music career. That caused Drake to almost quit the show because of it. Even though the producers did not change the storyline, a writer named James Hurst did mention that Drake will not be in season 6 until Jimmy Brooks (Drake) is healed, so Drake agreed to it. During the filming of the show Degrassi, Drake wrote and published his first mixtape, named Room for Improvement, in 2006. Drake managed to sell 6,000 copies of his music. Then, in 2009, Drake decided to leave the show Degrassi to start pursuing his music career more seriously. On September 1, 2007, Drake released his second album named Comeback Season, which also included Drake’s first hit single and music video Replacement Girl. Drake’s songs were so successful that they led to increased hype. In 2008, Lil Wayne (singer) told Drake to board a flight to Houston that same night to join him in his tour called Carter III. So from then on, Drake went on tour with him and came back in February, then released his third mixtape, So Far Gone, in 2009. Drake was doing really well in achieving a great music career after a while. Lil Wayne contacted Drake again, saying that he was doing so well that a company wanted to sign with him. Drake agreed and was so happy that he could make his dream really come true, so Lil Wayne signed him to Young Money Records. And from then on, Drake became one of the most successful Rappers in the world.
The Controversy
Drake has been at the top of his game and doing amazing in his music, but in 2013, Canadian rapper Drake and American rapper Kendrick Lamar were involved in a rap feud. But before the feud began, Drake and Kendrick Lamar used to be friends, and they also collaborated on the song “Poetic Justice” and toured together. Their relationship was initially friendly, but it deteriorated after August 2013. Lamar sang a verse with Big Sean (singer) called Control. Lamar’s lyrics on “Control” famously stated, “I got love for you all, but I’m tryna murder you n—–,” and also named several artists that he was competing with, including Drake, but Lamar claimed that his verse was a friendly competition. All of that shifted, which ultimately led to a highly public and intense feud. A few months later, Drake and J.Cole (rapper) released a song named First Person Shooter. J.Cole was telling Drake that he, Drake, and Lamar were the big three of modern hip-hop on Like That in March 2024. A few hours later, Lamar rejected the notion of a big three, saying the top spot in hip hop was just big me. In April 2024, J.Cole responded to Lamar by dissing him on a song named 7 Minute Drill before apologizing shortly after releasing it. After that, Drake dissed Lamar with a song called Push Ups and Taylor Made Freestyle. Then on April 30, Lamar responded to Drake in a disk called Euphoria and, on May 3rd, Drake released another disk track called 6:16 in LA. Later on May 3, Drake let out Family Matters, accusing Lamar of domestic abuse and also claiming that Lamar’s collaborator, music producer Dave Free, biologically fathered Lamar’s son. A little after Drake published the song, twenty minutes later, Lamar released Meet The Grahams, accusing Drake of sexual predation (including sex predation), also lying about Lamar’s family, and having fathered a second secret child. On May 4, on Not Like Us, Lamar accused Drake of pedophilia. Then, on May 5, Drake released The Heart Part 6, which denied Lamar’s accusations and claimed Drake’s team fed Lamar false information about a second child. Since then, Lamar won five Grammy Awards for “Not Like Us” (including Song of the Year), performing it and “Euphoria” at Super Bowl LIX.
All fans were saying that Drake lost the battle between him and Lamar, so Drake reflected and gave up, but he kept going with his music, still being one of the famous top rappers. Drake later had a baby by the name of Adonis with former model Sophie Brussaux. Adonis was born on October 11, 2017, and is currently 8 years old. Drake and Sophie broke up after the child was born, but they both co-parent to keep raising Adonis. Alongside being content with his music career, Drake is a happy father to his child.
