We are all aware of the video game franchise Super Mario Bros, as it’s one of the most iconic video games loved by everyone. It stars Mario, a video game character we are all familiar with, and his adventures through the Mushroom Kingdom in an attempt to rescue Princess Peach from the tyrant Bowser. With Mario being such an iconic character, we can find Mario in all kinds of media. We can find mentions of Mario in TV, ads, and movies. Although Mario is such a big franchise, we rarely get to see Mario in anything other than in Video games. The only few instances where Mario got his own film is in the 1993 film Super Mario Bros. After that, we didn’t get any more films for the Mario franchise. That is until now, with the announcement of a new Mario movie called “The Super Mario Bros. Movie”, coming out in April, 2023. With the release of a teaser trailer for the upcoming film, uploaded on October 6, 2022, we can get a glimpse of the movie. The upcoming film is being produced by Illumination in association with Nintendo, and is being distributed by Universal Pictures. Illumination is known for animating films such as the franchises such as Despicable Me, The Secret Life of Pets, and Sing. With Illuminations reputation, as well as what’s showcased in the teaser, we can see that the visuals for this film are good, and are beyond most people’s expectation for an Illumination film. As far as visuals go, each character’s design looks similar to what the originals look like in the game, which is a relief to most because in most films presented by Illumination, most characters’ designs tend to look weird like in films such as any Dr. Suess film by Illumination. Needless to say, people responded positively to the way Illumination showcased the visuals for this film, and are excited to see the end result once the film is released. One thing that viewers noticed when the teaser dropped was the voice cast. The one that stood out the most to people was the person voicing Mario. Mario’s voice is important to most people, as one of the things that makes Mario such an iconic and recognizable character is his iconic italian voice. So naturally, people want to know who’s voicing the iconic character. The person voicing the beloved video game character is none other than Chris Pratt. Chris Pratt is more commonly known for his roles in Jurassic World and Guardians of the Galaxy. The person who is voicing the main villain, Bowser, is Jack Black. Jack Black is in a variety of films and TV shows. As for the other characters, we have Anya Taylor-Joy doing the voice for Princess Peach, Charlie Day voicing Luigi, Keegan-Micheal voicing Toad, Seth Rogen voicing Donkey kong, Fred Armisen as Cranky Kong, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek. With the information we have, we can see that the general response for this movie is mostly positive, with only a few minor complaints, primarily with the criticism of having Chris Pratt as the voice for the iconic character, Mario. But other than that, people are satisfied with every other aspect of this film, and are looking forward to seeing the movie when it comes out in theatres.
