Tom Brady is widely known to be the GOAT of football, A.K.A. the greatest of all time. After losing to the Rams in the Divisional Round of the playoffs this season he released information that he may be retiring. A couple of days after the information was released Tom made it official by posting a thank you post to the Bucs. Brady had an amazing career and many of his fans and I are grateful that we had the opportunity to watch. He was such a talented quarterback to support and watch in our lifetime.

For Tom, in the NFL it all started in New England. He and his head coach Bill Belichick might have been the best quarterback and head coach duo of all time. They went on to win 6 super bowls in New England between 2000 and 2019. Tom himself has 7 super bowl wins, but he has one in Tampa with the Bucs along with his most current head coach Bruce Arians. That is the most super bowl victories that any single quarterback has.

Brady also had 3 overall MVP awards and 5 Super Bowl MVPs. He also holds the records for most touchdowns thrown (624), completions (7,264), passing yards (84,520), and quarterback wins (243). For such a talented quarterback you would think that all the scouts at the combine would be all over him right? Well, that was not the case, because there happened to be more criticism on Tom at the combine than good things. They said he had poor structure, lacked mobility, and they said he wasn’t going to last in the NFL. Well, he lasted, to say the least. It’s crazy how the best quarterback to ever play the game of football was drafted in the 6th round with the 199th pick. I don’t believe there will ever be another quarterback as good as Tom Brady was. He will forever be remembered as the GOAT, and have a home in the NFL.

However, there is a new style of quarterbacking in the NFL at the moment and it didn’t fit Tom’s. Head Coaches are now looking for young and agile quarterbacks with a good arms. For example, Patrick Mahomes. Mahomes is probably taking over as the best quarterback in the league now that Tom is gone. He and Aaron Rodgers both have a similar play, but you can tell Mahomes is younger for sure. Mahomes has made a couple of plays no one has ever seen before so he is going to be one of the up-and-coming quarterbacks that have a chance to run the league. Even though a lot of people didn’t necessarily like Tom, the league’s not going to be the same without him. Even though Tom will be missed, I think the NFL is in good hands due to all these new talented quarterbacks that are killing it right now. The question now arises who will take over the league? I guess we’ll have to wait and find out next season.
