I have a random question. Should toilet paper be hanging in front or behind? According to the Farmers’ Almanac, S. Wheeler intended for toilet paper to be in front. S. Wheeler is the creator of toilet paper. Let’s debate though, there are a few pros and cons of both. Either way you do is fine, this is just my opinion on both.

I’m starting off with the toilet paper hanging on the outside. One of the pros of this is that it’s easier to reach and roll out as much as you want. Another pro is that if there are patterns on it, you can see them better. Some cons I’ve heard about is that it’s easier to roll out, meaning you use more. Honestly, I think if you’re paying attention to how much you’re using, it isn’t a problem. Another con I’ve heard about is that cats can also roll it out easier. I agree that this can be a big problem and very wasteful. If you have a cat, it’s probably better to have your toilet paper the other way. Apparently how you dangle your toilet paper says something about your personality. According to cnet.com, if you hang your toilet paper hanging in front you like to take chances, stay organized, and are an overachiever. They also state the pro of hanging your toilet paper this way; you don’t hit the wall when reaching for toilet paper.

Now I’m going to talk about the toilet paper hanging in the back. A pro I’ve heard is that it’s easier to break off and use a smaller amount, which I’ve never noticed. If you have a cat, this is your best option so that it’s harder for them to waste it. Some have said that hanging toilet paper this way makes it look nicer. A pro that cnet.com covers is that during an earthquake or on an RV, it’ll unroll less. Hanging your toilet paper under means that you’re laid back, artistic and dependable.

There is one more option for how you put your toilet paper… you could set it down on something. Some pros of this are that it’s easier to control how much you use, and it can sit where ever you want in whichever place is the most convenient. A con could be that if your hands are dirty, you’re touching more of the toilet paper. Another con is that it’s touching more surfaces so it could have more germs on it, and to add to this, it could fall over more and get wasted.

While writing this I’ve learned that the creator of toilet paper intended it to be hung on the outside. I think that we should consider this and hang our toilet paper in the front. Hanging toilet paper on the inside can have its own benefits, though. Which one do you do? Are you an overachiever, laid back, or are you neither? Whichever way you hang your toilet paper is fine. It just depends on preference.
