Monster House is a movie about three kids; DJ, Chowder, and Jenny. DJ lives right in front of Nebbercracker, an elderly man who everyone is afraid of, especially kids, because he always scares off the people who take even one step on his lawn. Continuing on, DJ and Chowder were hanging out when they noticed a girl (Jenny) walking towards Nebbercrackers house trying to sell girl scout cookies. They tried stopping her as she almost got eaten by the house, this leads to Jenny asking quite a few questions and them all teaming up to investigate the house. They eventually find out that Nebbercracker is actually fond of kids and his house is actually his wife; she really dislikes children. All Nebbercracker wanted to do was to protect the children from his wife. In the ending, all three friends and Nebbercracker end up destroying the house and setting the wife’s “spirit” free.

The animation for Monster House was very good. Movies animated from 2006 were done very well; Cars, Happy Feet, Ice Age The Meltdown, Open Season, and more, but Monster House is one of the animations that stands out the most. There weren’t many, or maybe any, animation styles like Monster House during 2006, which makes it a bit more unique. The characters from Monster House are my favorite part of the animation, as every character looks different, so you can tell them apart. The person in charge of the animation for this movie is not officially confirmed but they deserve a lot of credit.

The plot on Monster House was really good and smooth overall. It wasn’t choppy and wouldn’t leave you wondering “what’s going on?”. The plotline overall made actual sense when watching the movie. The story itself was pretty unique, it’s not really scary but a good group of people found it creepy. The movie also wasn’t all like a kid movie, so it wasn’t cringey at all. Going on from how it’s unique, it’s because there wasn’t really any scary, creepy, and funny children movies in 2006. To see this type of movie is pretty unique.

Even though Monster House was made in 2006, with movies still improving, it was overall a great movie. It has a good storyline and a great style of animation. This movie is more popular around teenagers, young adults, and adults, and I can see why as the movie from their perspective is a lot better. It becomes a lot better when you get older because people can see more hidden jokes, understand a storyline better, and look at the tiny details. Although the popularity of the movie is going down as it was made in 2006, it will still remain at the top of creepy animated movies for children.
