Forest Grove, Oregon is a small city which gets very festive during the holiday season. This includes decorating, parades, and other holiday events. During the holiday season, lots of families come together to make the holiday season wonderful. This makes Forest Grove a great place for you and your family to be during the season.

The holiday celebration in Forest Grove starts with “hanging green tinsel and red holiday flags along the historic lamp posts.”. The green tinsel and holiday flags are a tradition they have here. Every year around this season, you can enter Forest Grove and see that they’ve hung up on the historic lampposts. The city also loves to give lights to local businesses to raise the holiday spirit. The idea of the city giving lights to local businesses is a pretty smart idea because it means local businesses who might not have time to go buy lights are given the opportunity to spread holiday cheer. This, in turn, helps bring the people in the town closer together.

The events in Forest Grove are so much fun to attend and participate in. One main event in Forest Grove is the Holiday Light Parade. People can participate in for $20, but it’s always free to watch. The parade usually starts around 5:00 pm on the 1st Saturday of December, where people can come out of their houses and watch the magical and beautiful lights passing by. While the people pass by they sometimes have candy which they pass out to little kids who are there watching. Forest Grove also has their annual Holiday Tree Lighting on the 23rd of November at 6:00 pm in the Forest Grove Senior & Community Center. This event is also no cost to go and check it out, which means it can even be a little family bonding time.

Some other events that go on during this season include  The Nutcracker Ballet at the FGHS auditorium on December 8th and 9th. It plays two times a day at 1 pm and 6 pm. Also, at Theatre in the Grove, the Nuncrackers is played 6 times a day every Friday and Saturday and Sunday. The tickets are $16 for adults and $14 for seniors and youths.

Another event in Forest Grove is Holiday in the Grove, which is on the 1st of December at 8:30 am to 8:30 pm in downtown historic Forest Grove. During these hours, people can have breakfast and take photos with Santa Claus. There is also art projects the kids can do and a gingerbread house contest for anybody who wants to join. There are also carolers and so much more. If you ever have time next year during this season, this is a good place to go have fun with your family.

Due to the holiday celebrations, Forest Grove makes this town more festive in order to appreciate the season. While Forest Grove might not be the most festive city ever, the city still tries to become the most festive it can be. With the decorating, parades and other events, Forest Grove will always be a great festive city.
