Caravan Approaching U.S. Border

After planning the journey for over a month, a group of 160 people from Central America began their trek to the U.S. border to escape persecution, poverty, and violence in their countries. Just a day after the journey began, over 1,000 others joined in. People were joining from Honduras, Guatemala, and other countries as the caravan has passed by. Now, the numbers are sitting at around 4,000 migrants as of October 23rd.

Since word has spread of the caravan beginning their journey, President Trump has been making preparations along the U.S. Mexico border. Thousands of troops are being sent out to the border to await their arrival, along with equipment such as weapons, vehicles, and tents. Trump has addressed the situation at rallies, his message to the migrant caravan being, “Turn back now, because you’re not getting in.”

It’s hard to tell what will happen when the caravan arrives, and people have differing opinions about the situation. Some say the preparations Trump is making for their arrival are racist and an overreaction, while others claim it’s necessary for our country’s safety and security. However, no matter what side you may be on, it’s safe to say this migrant caravan has everybody on their toes and will continue to until their arrival.
