Fall Sports 2017

The Vikings had another great season for fall sports, scoring wins while making memories along the way. Starting off, our football team will be finishing off their season at South Salem on Friday, October 27th. They are currently ranked 37th by the OSAA, with a tough 1-7 record; however the Viking spirit was alive and well during all of their games, and they didn’t go down without a fight. Another hard season well-fought was volleyball, finishing their season 7-16. Crowd the Court was an incredible success in getting more of our student body to show up in support of our valiant volleyball players. Boys soccer had a season record of 6-4-4, finishing 20th in the OSAA regular season, and will be heading to playoffs at North Medford on October 28th. The girls team placed 20th in the state, with an impressive season of 10-3-1, and will be heading to state playoffs as well, facing Barlow on the 28th. The Viking’s Cross Country team runs at the district meet on October 25th, and they are currently top contenders for yet another district title, with the hypothetical meet (if everyone ran their personal best time) predicting the boys first in the Greater Valley Conference and girls second in the GVC. They have had a ridiculously successful season with 85% of all the boys and 75% of all girls achieving PRs in the 5,000 meter race, lead by Quincy and Max Norman, Osker Almeda, Hannah Aguirre, and Hannah Berdahl. Junior Hannah Aguirre beat the FGHS school record girls 5k time in 18:45.2 and sophomore Quincy Norman is 2 seconds from beating the boys record at 15:31.4! Water polo has also had a great season, sweeping Hillsboro at the second-annual Pack the Pool.
Another amazing fall season of athletics is in the books, and student athletes, old and new, can look forward to our upcoming winter sports season of basketball, swimming, wrestling, skiing/snowboarding, and equestrian. Registration is now open, and the season officially begins on November 13th.
