Pack the Pool 2017

It’s always amazing to watch the FGHS community come together and show up in support of sports teams that don’t typically get a lot of attention. These smaller events, usually a single game or meet that is broadcasted as a game to go support has been gaining popularity in the last few years.
This fall, the Vikings saw Crowd the Court for volleyball and Pack the Pool for water polo. Both the girls and boys water polo teams swept their games against Hillsboro during Pack the Pool, and the energy brought by the student body filled the entire Aquatic Center! The girls beat Hillsboro 17-7 with help from high scorers senior Cali Rowland, junior Daphne Janko, and junior Amelia Garcia. Goalies Emily Fataua and Jessica Brewer kept Hillsboro’s scoring down. The boys won 18-6 with high scorers senior Duncan Reasoner and Hunter Bartoo and amazing saves by John Hertel and Jan Peters Weems. Even Hillsboro spectators admitted that the game was exciting and the turnout rate was incredible. Showing pride in our sports teams that don’t usually get a chance in the spotlight can be crucial to any meet or game, and is entertaining to a large crowd as well. At any rate, being a part of a united student body helps lift others up and, at the end of the day, we can be proud to be a part of FGHS.
