Dear lower-classmen, here is my advice to improve your future and to make yourself feel better in stressful situations. Be kind to yourself and make sure you are your number one priority, don’t worry about what others think, and just live your life to the fullest. You may think that this doesn’t matter and that everything will be fine, and it will, but I want to help make it easier for you.
- Focus on yourself. Yes, support others but don’t let it get in the way of making yourself happy. In the process, you might lose friends, but real friends will stay and be happy for you. Don’t ever feel pressured to do something you don’t want to, and learn how to establish your boundaries. If people don’t respect you, let them go. Don’t stress over your friendships or relationships and know that you can be whoever you want to be as long as you try.
- Work hard. Don’t slack on your schoolwork. As long as you keep up with it and keep trying, there is nothing to be worried about. The main things that will help you be successful are your effort and time. You are still able to have fun and do amazing things with your friends and family. There is nothing wrong with being amazing in school, it’s an accomplishment. If you try during your freshman year, it will make the rest of your years in high school so much easier. Later on, you will get more advantages, and you are going to want that.
- Ignore everyone. There will always be people who will judge you and try to push you down, but the biggest revenge is to ignore them and not give them a reaction. Their biggest jealousy is to see that you are doing good in life, so continue to do good and be even better. Don’t let people get into your head. Keep pushing forward and show them that you are mature enough to not cause a negative interaction. Instead, if you want to work things out with a person, communication is the key. If you can’t communicate your feelings, it most likely won’t work out. Keep the people who influence you to do better.
- Don’t worry about getting into a relationship. Everyone wants it and it tends to rush people to do something they don’t want to in order to have a relationship. Take things slow and make sure to set boundaries. If things aren’t working out, then it isn’t meant to be. Love will come when you least expect it, so don’t try to look for it. One day, you will have the right person by your side. Don’t keep trying for someone if it clearly isn’t working out. Learn how to leave them alone and move on. Yes, it’s so hard, but it’s best to rip off the bandaid before it hurts you even more.
Live your best life. Treat everyone nicely, don’t be a hateful person. Have fun, go out, sing, and do whatever you love to do. Enjoy your time with your favorite people and appreciate every good thing in life. Live it to the fullest. Holding grudges will only make your life worse. Ask for help if needed and make yourself proud.
