Over the decades there has been a significant change and certain developments within women’s rights. Multiple aspects have a part in this drastic change such as the evolving of laws, the increase in open-minded people in society, and the rise of women coming together to defend their rights. Zooming in on the development of laws: there has been a huge change in treatment and respect towards women over the decades. For example, up until the year 1920, women at one point in time were unable to vote and make their opinions heard. The level of disrespect also includes the fact that there is obvious research and proof that since the beginning of time women were only good for cooking, cleaning, and taking care of their children. Over time, especially in the modern-day, there are plenty of men who are single or stay-at-home fathers for their children while their wives are at work. Sadly some people still believe in the unfair treatment towards women, even with the current societal changes. There are multiple cases in which women’s husbands will publicly shame or make fun of their wives just because they think they have any form of authority over them, which is such an old-fashioned way of thinking. Usually, there are solutions to problems like this such as laws, protests, and just basic human decency, but some people still struggle to help these women.

Taking a look at the other side of things, there has also been a significant amount of growth with laws made in women’s favor. Although there are a few cases that prove otherwise, most women have been able to grow past society’s degrading comments of not being able to run a business or control anything or even have a say in a simple decision. Just by women around the world being able to speak on topics like this, can inspire others to overcome the fear of being judged or torn down. As a group and community, women have been able to grow and learn from each other to become stronger and prove standards and gender superiority is fake.

There has also been a tremendous change in men and how open-minded they have become. There have been multiple events where men have proven to be supportive and open to the idea of women being in control or having an opinion in a decision. On the other hand, though, there have still been occasional times where men and other women have tried to say otherwise, and say things like “women only belong in the kitchen” or “women are only good for taking care of men.” Women have fought to prove that they are capable of anything a man can do and will continue to rise above the negative comments that say otherwise. Over the years women have made tremendous changes in society’s standards and have such a big impact on the later generations, themselves, and young girls who have not yet dared to speak out against sexism.
