Midway is a movie based on a true story about the fight against the Japanese by the US starting on December 7th, 1941. The Japanese attacked the U.S and within 2 hours, 21 warships had been sunk or damaged, 188 aircrafts were destroyed and 2,403 American servicemen and women were killed while many more were injured. The Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor in an attempt to prevent the United States Pacific Fleet from interfering with its planned military actions in Southeast Asia. Midway is based on this historical event and it shows how devastating this event was and how it impacted the U.S.

The beginning of the movie shows the leaders of the US meeting with the Japanese leaders. Shortly after that meeting, the Japanese forces attacked Pearl Harbor killing many soldiers and civilians, and sank many American warships. The US is devastated by the attack and during the attack one of the protagonist’s, Dick Best, friends, with whom he had gone to the academy, died. This devastated him and after that all he wanted was revenge. Dick Best was the kind of guy who didn’t care what happened to him. He was a fearless man, and heartless according to some people, and that scared the other people who flew with him.

Towards the middle of the movie, the US is searching for the Japanese fleet but they don’t find anything on their first few scouting missions. The US decides to send an attack on Tokyo with old US military bombers, and the attack was successful but the planes ran out of fuel and they had to bail out over “Free China.”

At the end of the movie, they send fleets of planes caring bombs out to search for the Japanese fleet, and although they don’t find anything at first they end up sighting an enemy warship and follow it all the way to its fleet, where they carry out their bombing mission. At first, they were just trying to take out the warships on the outside of the fleet but that didn’t go as planned. They blew up most of the ships, but their main target was Yamato. Yamato at the time was the biggest warship in the world and it just so happened to be in the Japanese fleet. The US fleets suffered many casualties but in the end, it was a success because the Japanese ended up retreating and the US won.

Overall I think this movie was a 10/10. It had a great storyline that included a lot of action sequences, and the creators paid close attention to detail which made the movie 10x better. I loved how every second of the movie was full of action and excitement. Although there were a lot of sad parts throughout the movie, in the end, I’d say it was a great movie and I would definitely recommend it to people who are into action-packed movies and movies that are based on true stories.
