Have you ever wondered how a sport became a sport? Well, if you were, you are in luck today. I will talk about how soccer became a sport. For the people who don’t quite understand how to play soccer, I can explain. Soccer is a sport. You play soccer by having a ball, and you use your feet. Some people might think, hey, that is so easy, anyone can do that, well think again. You have to know how to use tricks, need to have a healthy respiratory system to run, and have ball control. And many more things. The point of the game is that you dribble the ball, use tricks and tactics, you need to pass the ball and be ready to change from offense to defense and vice versa in a split of a second. Now for what you wanted to read. From my sources, it states that “Records trace the history of soccer back to 2,00 years ago to ancient China, Greece, Rome, and parts of Central America“. Sometimes it is so unbelievable to me they invented a sport so many years ago with the limited resources they had. It was like when we were kids, we invented games to play with friends or family, except soccer became big, and the games that we invented were used a few times as kids.

My sources also state, “The English [got] credited with recording the first uniform rules for the sport, including forbidding tripping opponents and touching the ball with hands.” This is cool as they started to make rules for the game at this point. The older the game got, the more rules were added and the more famous the sport became in different countries, and now people play and even get paid to play. As the attention for the game grew bigger, penalty kicks got added in 1891. The red and yellow cards were added in 1970 during the world cup finals. My sources also informed me that, “FIFA became a member of the International Football Association Board of Great Britain in 1913.” After that, many more rules were added, and adjustments were made. But besides this, there is also a list of good players that will become a part of soccer history. Here are some people; Zinedine Zidane, Michel Platini, Lionel Messi, Roberto Baggio, Christian Ronaldo, Pele, Neymar jr., Ronaldinho, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Luis Suarez, David Beckham, Andres Iniesta, Paul Pogba, Kylian Mbappe, Son Heung-min, and Diego Maradona. If you did not know, Diego Maradona has a soccer trick named after him called The Maradona. If you press the link, it will tell you how to use this trick and what type of trick it is. Well, this is the end of the history of soccer, and how it became the big sport it is now.
