Twizzlers Versus Red Vines
February 22, 2020
There are many big rivalries among brands, Coke versus Pepsi, Nike and Adidas, and McDonald’s against Burger King, but above all the biggest competitors are Twizzlers versus Red Vines. People think Red vines and Twizzlers are just candies but they are more than that. People can gather together based on their choice of Twizzler or red rope enjoyment but it can also tear people apart, when it comes down to it, the only way to bring everyone together is to all know that the real winner is Twizzlers.
Some think that because Red Vines were made first means that they were the original and that Twizzlers were a copy, this is far from the truth. When Red Vines were first invented they had a raspberry flavor and switched to their original flavor, and Twizzlers switched from their original licorice flavor to more fruit-based choices, which shows their own individual choices that wasn’t based on one copying another. If you judged one on “being first” it makes it hard for a new superior brand to take place on top despite the true facts of flavor.
Choice is a big part of who buys what, if there is more variety of what someone can buy it offers something anyone could enjoy. Although Red Vines is known for its original Red Flavor they also have a grape and black licorice. Twizzlers went a different direction with their flavors, Twizzler has almost 30 different flavors from cherry to chocolate and everyone can have something for them. If you want to try something new you can always get a new kind of Twizzlers that is right around the corner, after a while only three kinds or Red Vines will get old.
Along with variety in flavor, there is also a variety in eating styles, recently the “bite-sized” has been a big hit and both companies have covered that market, but Twizzlers went above and beyond. One of the big choices of Twizzlers is their peeling candy where you can be able to take off bits of the rope at a time like a string cheese people ate when they were younger, or even still today. When it comes to different styles in eating for Red vines are just their basic ropes and bite-sized, they have stayed behind on the revolution of eating. After a while, they won’t be able to keep up much longer.
The debate of Twizzlers versus Red Vines is something everyone can have an opinion on, it only takes two bites, a bite of a delicious wonder of goodness, and a bite of a Red Vine. You may enjoy the Red Vine at first, but soon it will grow old and tired, Red Vines won’t be able to keep up with the fast-paced market of the candy world. Twizzlers will thrive and keep producing new ideas and candy creations. Twizzlers aren’t just the superior rope candy but they will be the survivors of the new candy world.

You bring up a lot of great points of view for Twizzlers advocates, but fail to bring up an important fact that Twizzlers has a plasticky feel that real handmade licorice don’t have. Licorice has been around before the Red Vines brand has come out. Red Vines are closer to real licorice, while Twizzlers taste and feel fake. (I’m biased here as I’m team Red Vines, as your article is also very obviously biased to Twizzlers, so I’m curious what others think and feel about this topic too.) As for the varied flavors that Twizzlers have, it’s not enough to pull me in. The pull apart tiny ropes are fun, but I can’t get over the actual product that I feel tastes and feels fake. (I had tried these versions many years ago and from Halloween stashes.) For all the effort Twizzlers has put on creating new flavors and fun ways to eat their product there are still others that are die hard Red Vines eaters. In my view, Red Vines didn’t really have to change much and still has a strong following, while Twizzlers needs to innovate in order to keep things interesting for their product. My two cents for Team Red Vines.

I agree with your take on Twizzlers being the best between the two candies, you bring up great points and are very insightful on the issue.
