There are many important parts of life in today’s world, things like money, technology, popularity, but I think everyone can agree that the very most important thing is hot sauce. There are many types of hot sauce from buffalo to chili sauce. With how many different types of hot sauce there are it would be hard to find just one “best” but that is exactly what I will be doing. There are a few requirements that I would need to put down, First of all, they all will be mainstream, name brand hot sauces, and they should also be mostly similar, such as I can’t compare a salsa to a spicy mayo, and finally I will be comparing them to three different types of food, so if one tastes really good on chili, but not on eggs there will be a fair fight. With those guidelines can now pick the main four sauces, Tapatío, Cholula, the mainstream rooster Sriracha, and Tabasco.

The first food to be tested with will be eggs, eggs serve as a good plain slate, there can be lots of other spices and seasoning that can be added. But for the sake of the ranking, I will use plain eggs with some black pepper. Each hot sauce tastes pretty good on eggs, as they are pretty bland on their own, but some are much better than others, the thickness of sriracha, although a pro on some foods, is not in its favor on this dish as it would be favorable to have all the eggs covered equally, but other than that the flavor is pretty good with the eggs and is very enjoyable. Tapatío and Cholula are similar in consistency and tastes but they are pretty different compared to each other, Tapatío is a lot Spicier for how much you poor and the flavor is much better paired with the eggs, Cholula is a lot less spicy and the flavor isn’t the best with eggs, but it does taste okay, just not as much as the others in the list. The final one is Tabasco, it is a good consistency for eggs the flavor is good when other pepper or salt is added and isn’t overpowering, it is probably the best option for eating with eggs. For the egg category the ranking would be Sriracha in last for the poor texture in relation to the eggs, in third is Cholula for its flavor, in second is Tapatío its flavor isn’t bad with eggs, just not as good as Tabasco which ranks first in the egg category.

The second food will be good old fashioned french fries, since fries are fried potatoes they will soak up a lot of sauce in them, so the consistency of sriracha is a big advantage in this food, the flavors in tapatío and cholula are also not the best with this food but the spices and peppers in Cholula go much better with the salt and fries. Tabasco isn’t bad, it’s just my favorite, it is probably a good choice for people who are big fans of the sauce, but for me, it isn’t that great. In the french fries category, the best choice for hot sauce is by far sriracha, for its good texture, the taste is good paired with the potatoes, and its overall spice doesn’t take away from the fries.

The third will be a beef chili, it will be made plain. Although Sriracha is good for consistency, there isn’t a “bad” consistency for this meal. The flavor just isn’t a good choice for this dish, as Sriracha is from Thailand and chili is a Mexican dish. Although tabasco is a good sauce, it is weak for chili and for what is added it really doesn’t make much of an impact. I think it is a tie for Tapatío and Cholula, if you’re looking for a lot of spices and some flavor Tapatío is the way to go, for flavor, then spice Cholula is the best choice for sauce.

Since they are all good for different foods there can’t really be a real winner as they are good for different things. My personal preference is Tapatíó though, with its hot flavor, it’s not a too watery texture, and its taste also pairs well with lots of different foods.
