When you are trying to plan out a vacation there is always a struggle to figure out where you want to go.  What are the most important places to see when you have such little time? Well, if you are traveling to the Netherlands, I’ve already figured out the top places you should go.

The first place you should visit if you go to the Netherlands is the Keukenhof Gardens.  The Keukenhof Gardens are located in Amsterdam and even though they are very touristy, they are a must-see when visiting this area.  If you are planning on going to the tulip gardens, the best time to go is in the Spring. According to Holland.com, “If you want to see the Dutch tulip fields in bloom, you should visit Holland in April and May.”  The tulip gardens are such a beautiful place to see. On Tulipfestivalamsterdam.com it says, “Every year more than 7 million flower bulbs are planted in autumn to bloom in spring. There is a variety of 800 different tulips.”  Overall, going to the Keukenhof Gardens a must-have when visiting the Netherlands.  

If you’re interested in Holocaust monuments, these next two places are definitely places you should visit.  The Anne Frank house and the Corrie ten Boom home are both interesting and educational places to see. The Anne Frank house is located in the city of Amsterdam and the Corrie ten Boom home is located in Haarlem.  Both of these places will help you learn more about the Holocaust and what happened in the Netherlands during this time period. At the Anne Frank house, you get to do an audio tour around the house that Anne hid in during the time of the Nazi occupation.  At the Corrie ten Boom house, you will have a guided tour of the home that Corrie and her family helped hide Jews in. Touring both of these places will help you learn more about the Holocaust and what people went through in the Netherlands. 

The last thing you should do if you visit the Netherlands is go on a canal tour.  One of the many things the Netherlands is known for is its canal tours. According to Iamexpat, “The Amsterdam canal tours are the most popular tourist attraction in the Netherlands, with 3 million passengers a year and 200 different tour boats.”  On the canal tours, you will get to know more about the city that you are in and get to see all of the sites from the water. In conclusion, if you ever visit the Netherlands, you should definitely take the chance to go on a canal tour.

It is easy to see that the Netherlands is an amazing place to visit.  If you ever plan on going there, just remember to check out the breathtaking Keukenhof Gardens.  For an educational experience visit the Anne Frank house, as well as, the Corrie ten Boom home. Lastly, don’t forget to experience the canal tours around this beautiful country.  Overall, if you go to the Netherlands, you should totally visit these wonderful places.
