Track & Field 2017
September 9, 2018
The Vikings track season ended last week with 5 state qualifiers competing at the state meet. Sophomore Mila Lumae and senior Joel Fletcher both qualified in the pole vault. Even though they did not make the opening height at state, they both have had very successful seasons. They trained very hard all season and both set new personal records. Sophomore Ellie Khoury qualified in the 800 meter run for the first time. She had a competitive race in the prelims and gained vital state experience for the next few years. Max Norman qualified for the 3000-meter run and ran a competitive race despite battling some injuries the past few weeks. Freshman Quincy Norman qualified in both the 3000 meter and 1500 meter races. He finished second in the 3000 in an incredible race. He competed extremely well and set a new personal record of 8:34. That is the second best time in Forest Grove history, and Quincy is only in his Freshman year. All your Viking athletes worked very hard this season and had many successful meets. Thank you for coming out and supporting your Vikings!
