The rise of Stevie Nicks was her lead role in the band Fleetwood Mac. She is a rock singer with a very powerful, soulful, and spiritual feeling to her music. She joined Fleetwood Mac in 1975 and shortly after released her solo debut album, Bella Donna. Her most popular being Rumors album was Rumours that she released with the band. Stevie Nicks has also had a relationship with one of her band members, Lindsey Buckingham. The relationship not only interfered with her professional career. But it also was a foundation to some of the biggest songs. As well as one of the most public problematic situationships ever. Some of the songs that displayed their breakup were: “Go Your Own Way” and “Silver Springs”. Silver Springs has 303 billion streams on Spotify according to kworb. The song has a huge growth in popularity because of the Lindsey and Stevie drama. The band Fleetwood Mac originally didn’t include either of them until Mick Fleetwood invited Lindsey but he refused to join unless Nicks was included. Post-breakup was when the iconic album Rumours was created. Which shows the beginning of all the drama this band had connected to it. The band did multiple shows together that included intense and passionate songs between Buckingham and Nicks.
All this being said, I recently attended the Stevie Nicks concert. This concert was one of the best experiences of my life. Seeing her live was unexplainable, it was amazing. She told stories about some of the songs she performed and being able to be in the same stadium as her and hear her stories were magical. She also brought out some of the original capes/shawls she wore while performing with Fleetwood Mac. The shawls are a legendary part of her stage presence. She even did the iconic Stevie swirl in them which she always did onstage. She performed some of my all time favorite songs including: Gypsy, Gold Dust Woman, Edge of Seventeen, Rihannon, and Landslide. Gold Dust Woman is arguably one of the best songs produced. She did an almost 10 minute version with instrumentals that were amazing. The band took over for about 5 minutes and it was so good.
Stevie Nicks is a very influential and iconic performer, her concert was very worth it. Seeing her be able to get on stage and put on a complete show was so iconic and impressive given her age. That just shows how amazing she is and how she is a truly iconic performer. If you get the opportunity to see one of your favorite artists live I would take the opportunity. Especially since Stevie Nicks is older she may never go on a full tour again so this was truly a once in a lifetime opportunity. No matter who the artist is, I think it is so important to see your favorite artist especially if they are older. It is rare for the older artists and bands to come together and go on tour. So take the opportunity because it is truly once in a lifetime.
