Gabriel Iglesias, a name known in many parts of this world, also known as Fluffy, is a comedian and actor with a huge fan base, including me. He was born on July 15, 1976, in San Diego, California. His parents were Esther P. Mendez and Jesus Iglesias, but his mom had to raise him as a single mother. He moved around a lot, living in many places like Riverside, Corona, Santa Ana, Baldwin Park, and Compton, and finally staying in Long Beach, where he spent most of his childhood.
At first, he worked at a cell phone company in Los Angeles, but in 1997, he decided to be a stand-up comedian. Unfortunately, he ended up getting evicted and losing many of his things. Slowly, people started to recognize him for being able to change his voice and sound like many different people, including cartoon characters or famous actors. People started to find him funny, and this started his career in comedy. He is also known for the lines he says, like “am not fat, am fluffy,” getting his nickname Fluffy. He was not afraid or embarrassed by his weight, and instead, he would often turn them into jokes and rating 6 levels of fitness, being: “healthy,” “ big,” “husky,” “ fluffy,” and “DAMM,” but most recently, “ Oh hell no.” This line got him so much attention, making him even more popular.
Fluffy is not only a comedian, as I mentioned, but also an actor. From 2000 to 2021, he voiced many characters, including some characters in American Dad, The Book of Life, and voicing a whole Mexican family in Family Guy. He also shows up in some Nickelodeon sketch comedy series, and has even been in Disney, being his favorite voices and voicing Speedy Gonzales in Space Jam. My favorite is him playing a high school teacher in Mr. Iglesias, a comedy show.
Fluffy is also recognized for only wearing Hawaiian shirts and shorts. Fluffy has also done some collabs, most recognized being the face of tapatío and Funko Pop being made of him. Fluffy was married to Claudia Valdez and has a stepson named Frankie, but divorced in 2020. He was still spending time with his son Frankie, making sure he raised him.
Fluffy got many awards, like the key of the city in El Paso, Texas, and the beacon of HOPE from the organization Operation H.O.P.E. Fluffy also plays many jokes on his fellow comedians, friends, and family, for example. Pranking his son that he was getting arrested by police, but actually the police were there to escort him to a comedy show they were going to be in. Also my favorite is “The gift basket,” but I don’t think I can put it in this article.
Gabriel Iglesias is a very funny and nice person, giving back to the people in need with money and essentials, and showing how much he cares for his fans. He sells merch, and you can rent him for a show if you have around $300,000.
