She’s the Man is a movie made in 2006. She’s the Man follows a girl named Viola, played by Amanda Bynes. The movie starts with Viola’s soccer coach saying the girls’ soccer team is getting cut from the school, and she can’t join the boys’ team. Then we go to Viola’s twin brother, Sebastian, saying he is going to London to pursue music, and he told his parents he’s going to school, but he wants her to cover for him.
Viola decides she wants to take Sebastian’s place at school while he’s in London so she can play soccer on the boys’ team, to prove girls can play on the boys’ team. Viola goes to her stylist friend Pau, played by Jonathan Sadowski, and asks him to turn her into Sebastian and teach her how to be a guy. When Viola is about to leave for school, she tells her mom she’s going to be at her dad’s, and she tells her dad she’s going to be at her mom’s. Viola starts at the school, and she has to convince everyone she is Sebastian. She has to room with another guy named Duke, played by Channing Tatum. Duke and a couple of other guys are in a little group, and Sebastian tries to join their group because they are all on the soccer team and are “cool.” Duke and his friends think Sebastian is a loser, and they don’t like him until they are all at a pizza place and Viola gets her friends to go up to her as Sebastian and act like his girlfriends. Sebastian’s real girlfriend shows up, and Viola has to run from her so she doesn’t recognize her. Duke and his friends believe he’s a “player,” so they become friends.
Viola or “Sebastian” agrees to help him get with Olivia, played by Olivia Lennox, but Laura wants Sebastian. Viola’s mom makes her go to a carnival for her debut, but her mom also wants Sebastian to be there. At the carnival, Viola has to keep switching back and forth between Viola and Sebastian. As Viola, she has to do a kissing booth and has to kiss Duke, and then Viola’s ex, Justin, played by Robert Hoffman, starts punching Duke, and they fight in front of everyone. Viola tries to stop the fight, and they finally break up the fight.
When Duke and Viola get back to the campus, Duke tells “Sebastian” that he kissed his sister, Viola. Viola has to pretend to be shocked but ultimately tells him it’s okay and tells him to ask her out because Viola is developing feelings for Duke. Duke starts to help Viola be better at soccer and gives her tips to improve. Duke tells “Sebastian” that he is going to ask out Viola, but then Olivia interrupts and asks Duke out to make “Sebastian” jealous.
The real Sebastian, played by James Kirk, gets back from London and goes to the school, and when he gets to the school, Laura unexpectedly kisses him and tells him how she feels. Duke sees Olivia kiss the real Sebastian and gets angry and starts yelling at Viola. Duke kicks her out, and she has to find somewhere else to stay, so she stays at Eunice’s, played by Emily Perkins, a friend that they have made throughout the movie. The real Sebastian goes to his dorm and falls asleep, not a clue in the world that anything is going on.
Everyone starts getting ready for the game, and they pull the real Sebastian into the game, and he’s never played before. Viola starts to stress out because she wakes up late and has to rush, and when she gets to the locker room, she can’t find her uniform. The real Sebastian plays the first half and sucks. They are losing badly, and the principal makes him prove that he is a guy because Monique, played by Alexandra Breckenridge, and Malcolm, played by James Snyder, convinced him that “Sebastian” was Viola. The real Sebastian, who was playing at the time, drops his pants in front of everyone to see, and they all believe him. At halftime, Sebastian and Viola switch, and Viola explains what she’s been doing, and Sebastian tells her what happened between him and Olivia, so now she understands. Viola gets in the game. When Viola starts playing, she is way better, Duke finally scores a goal for their team. Duke won’t work with “Sebastian” because he still thinks she kissed Olivia and is mad, and it leads to the other team scoring. Viola tries to reason with him and tell him to wait until after the game so she can tell him everything, then Justin, who is on the other team, gets in the middle, then Duke punches him, and both teams start fighting one another. The coaches break up the fight and Viola tells Duke what happened and then tells everyone that she’s actually Viola and takes off her wig and even then when nobody believes her she flashes everyone her boobs. They let Viola play the last quarter of the game, and they won.
Weeks later, it’s at Viola’s Debutante ball, and she invites Duke to be her escort, but doesn’t know if he will come because he’s still mad at her. He eventually goes and tells her he loves he, and she says she loves him back. They end up happy, and they allow girls to join the boys’ soccer team; they have a girls’ soccer team now. The end.
