October is my favorite month of the year. Can you guess why? It’s my birthday month! Apart from that, I’m just the biggest Fall fan ever, where all my favorite activities begin. To start the month, I had my 18th birthday on October 2nd. I was debating for a while if I wanted to throw myself a birthday party or just go to dinner with my family and friends, but since I ended up procrastinating, I just went to dinner. It was still very fun and I enjoyed having my loved ones there with me which is what mattered the most to me. I decided to go to BJ’s to celebrate and go home after with everyone to cut my cake and sing Happy Birthday. It was one of my best birthdays in the past years so I really enjoyed it. Since my birthday wasn’t on a weekend, I celebrated myself on the weekend by going shopping with some of the birthday money I got. I got a perfume and a pair of slippers I had been wanting, so that was really exciting. Once my birthday passed, all I thought about was Halloween, pumpkin patches, haunted houses, and all that fun stuff.
The following weekend after my birthday, my cousins and I decided to go to a pumpkin patch in Sauvie Island called Bella’s Organic Farm and honestly it was the best pumpkin patch I’ve been to. The scenery there is so beautiful and the activities there were so fun. Towards the end of the night, once we were about to leave, we found out there was a haunted corn maze that began as soon as it got dark out so we decided to try it. I had never been to a haunted corn maze before so I thought it was going to be fun and the adrenaline of getting scared is a weird but fun feeling. Once it was our turn to go ahead and begin I felt the nervous butterflies feeling in my stomach. It was me and my 2 cousins until one of them bailed within the first 5 minutes of being in there! So me and my other cousin continued and finished strong an hour later. I can’t even remember the number of jumpscares I experienced from all the clowns and killers jumping out of nowhere from the cornfield, and it was pitch black so it made it even harder to try and see if someone was near you. It ended up being one of my favorite fall activities to do overall, and I will most definitely be going next year during Fall again! Another activity I did during October was visiting Halloweentown in St. Helens! I had previously visited last year and loved it so me and my best friend decided to explore it together this year. I will say it was more entertaining last year since there was more stuff to do, but it was still fun to get out of the house and go again this year. Lastly, to wrap up October, of course, the most important part of it all is Halloween! On Halloween my best friend and I went to a Halloween party we were invited to. Since it was last minute, we had no costumes because we originally didn’t have plans and weren’t going to go out. We improvised and wore all black with a cheetah print shirt and did a cheetah makeup look. On Halloween, it was very rainy, but the party was inside so it all worked out. We got there and met up with some of our friends, ate food, and played party and board games! There were also trick-or-treaters going to the house so we even got to hand out some candy. Overall, October once again was very eventful and fun for me. I hope November and December feel the same way!
