Tupac Shakur is a name that has a lot of respect and hatred on it. Shakur was a rapper and actor born on June 16, 1971. Tupac was not his original name, his name was Lesane Parish Crooks. His mom Afeni Shakur changed his name to Tupac Amaru Shakur at only 1 year old after his father walked away from them.
Tupac had a big family like his mother Afeni Shakur, who went to jail in 1969 for conspiracy to be part of the bombing of New York landmarks. He also had a stepfather named Mutulu Shakur, who died on July 6, 2023 of cancer at the age of 72 a couple of months after being released from jail with a sentence of 35 years. He also had one step-brother and step-sister.
After growing up, Tupac was not a very good guy. He was charged with five-degree sexual assault, sexual abuse, shoutings, drive-by, robbed jewelry stores, illegal position of drugs, and weapons. He only served 8 months in jail. After a while, he decided to join a group called the Bloods, a very dangerous gang many people fear. He remained in that gang for the rest of his life.
After a while, Tupac gave himself a chance at music he started to rap making his first song and releasing “Same Song” in January 1991 with a group named The Digital Underground. He made many songs with them in 2 of their albums. After a while, he decided to become a solo artist. After meeting Eazy-E, he wanted Tupac to join his song group. They also had the same name as another group and Tupac wanted to change the name so he didn’t have the same name group on his history of music. Many people think he joined N.W.A, but he never did. He had very good connections with him helping them with a couple of songs but he never joined.
Tupac made so many songs and people thought it was all about things and gangs but he was very poetic. Listening to his lyrics, he was telling a story of how colored people had a hard time and all the things that happened to them. He also talked about his life. After people saw the meaning of his music he skyrocketed. He brought so much good attention to himself, but also brought bad attention. On September 13, 1996, he was shot dead in a drive-by in Las Vegas at the intersection of East Flamingo Road and Koval Lane, while stopped at a red light. It took nearly three decades before they arrested his killer, Duane Keith Davis.
Tupac wrote a poem in which he said: “In the event of My Demise when my heart can beat no more, I hope I die for a principle or a belief that I had lived 4, I will die before my time Because I feel the shadow’s depth, so much I wanted 2 accomplish
Before I reached my death, I came 2 grips with the possibility and wiped the last tear from my eyes, I loved all who were positive, In the event of my Demise.”
