With October kicking into full effect, Halloween will creep up on us sooner than we may know. With many different activities coming with the fall season, many tend to lean their favorites towards dressing up and decorating for Halloween. This season tends to let people showcase their style and the things they care about the most. Halloween is personally one of my favorite holidays because of all the fun activities and traditions that come with it. All the fun things like trick or treating, dressing up, decorating the house, and carving pumpkins are some things that are great examples of these festivities.
I love seeing all the kids going out in their unique costumes every year, knocking on doors throughout the neighborhood, which gives a buzz at night that little towns like Forest Grove tend not to have. Living in a small town like Forest Grove is amazing in many aspects, but one aspect that we tend to miss out on is the hustle and bustle of the nightlife as you would find in a big city. But there is nothing that compares to the homey feeling that Forest Grove has to offer and I love to see the entire community come together on this day to celebrate this amazing holiday. Costumes are a big part of Halloween because people feel they can express themselves freely and aren’t too worried about being judged like most other days of the year.
Halloween parties are also very common, especially among teenagers. Whether it’s just a small get-together with friends and family or a party with people from all over, social gatherings like parties especially around Halloween are really fun and I would recommend attending something like this before you become filled with too many responsibilities.
Trick or treating is also a big part of Halloween, especially for the younger kids. Many enjoy the neighborly atmosphere of trick or treating as it provides a way for people to socialize and get out of their shells while also getting a sweet treat to enjoy later on in the night. As for parents of the world, Halloween could be more of a stressor than a night to enjoy. For some reason, many schools have decided to make students go to school the following day after Halloween. This causes parents stress to get their kids back to the house at a reasonable time so they can function the following day at school. Alternatively, the kids want to stay out because it’s Halloween night! This is a problem many parents may run into that commonly results in many students missing school the following day. Other than that parents like to let their kids enjoy the holiday for the most part.
Schools also may have some struggles with the day following Halloween as the halls may be filled with excess wrappers and students hyped off of sugar from the night prior. Lack of sleep may also be very prevalent on the day after Halloween. Halloween has many different activities and has something for everyone. I am excited for this Halloween and I hope everybody has a great time.
