As the leaves change colors and the crisp autumn air sets in, fall is the perfect time to go outside; not too hot but also not too cold. It’s perfect to do so many fun activities inside or outside. We begin to cozy up in our homes, cooking soups, reading books with a candle lit, or watching movies with our loved ones. Here are some fun fall activities to add to your fall 2024 bucket list!
- Decorate
Of course, you have to get in the spirit! You can begin with decorating for fall whether it’s your room, your house, or your car. Decorating can uplift your mood and make you appreciate the season! For example, the pumpkin tradition is a must. You don’t even have to carve the pumpkin, you can just decorate it or paint it.
- Apple Picking
Going to a pumpkin patch is as fall as it gets, but picking apples is also a fall must! You can go ahead and go to the nearest apple orchard where you have the chance to choose your own apples. The best part is you’ll go home with fresh apples to try many fall baking recipes.
- Horror/Scary Movie Night
Having a scary movie night with friends and family should most definitely be part of your Halloween preparation! It is a must during the month of October and if you’re not a fan of scary movies, try a crime or mystery documentary.
- Go to a Pumpkin Patch
Of course, fall isn’t fall without going to a pumpkin patch! Whether you’re there for the vibes or to actually find a pumpkin to carve, you simply can’t miss it. Even if you don’t want to go for the pumpkins there’s many more activities that can be done at a pumpkin patch. For example, the food stands that have those delicious caramel apples or the haunted corn maze you can try with your friends.
- Friendsgiving
Hosting a friendsgiving and inviting friends over will make Thanksgiving more fun, showing your appreciation through having dinner all together. You can even assign each one of your friends to bring an entree, side, drinks, or dessert!
- Buy or make your Halloween Costume
Halloween is one of my favorite holidays personally and every year I plan my costume a month in advance. Even if you aren’t a big Halloween fan, you can get creative with it and make a costume with your friends like being a trio or duo! It’s another excuse to get together with your friends and celebrate together.
- Carve or Paint Pumpkins
This is a must during October! If you don’t enjoy carving pumpkins, even painting them like fictional characters can be fun. This is such a fun way to show your creativity to everyone by putting your finished pumpkins out on your front porch!
- Going to a Drive-in Movie
Imagine a cold, late, scary October night in a trunk with your friends watching a scary movie with snacks and warm soft blankets. Sounds so fun if you’re a fan of horror. There’s a fun drive-in theater in the small town of Newberg called the 99W Drive-In Theater bringing all the spooky vibes, I most definitely recommend it!
- Visit St. Helens
Everyone knows how St. Helens does October! Some of the best activities to do with your whole family are there and you won’t regret it. You can also visit the setting of the famous Halloween movies that you must watch every time fall comes around, Halloweentown! Another fun place to visit in St. Helens is the setting of Bella’s house from Twilight! They also have a Halloween parade around the first or second weekend of October.
- Have a Bonfire
Smores, friends, and cozy outfits are all you need to have a good night. All together sharing spooky stories while also listening to your friends tell stories and share experiences. It can be a chill yet fun night if you just want to stay in and not do anything too big.
