Kid Cudi is an ambitious and genuine hip-hop artist/rapper. He’s created one of the most memorable album trilogies in modern music and has worked with others to inspire and connect with his supporters.

In Man On The Moon: End Of Day, Cudi’s breakthrough album, he opens up about his own personal struggles. From home life and depression to drug use, he uses music as a beautiful and creative way to express what he’s gone through, and how he’s dealt with it in the past. In the song “Soundtrack 2 My Life,” Cudi really opens up about his inner emotions and how things in his life have affected the way he feels and what his goals are. In the chorus of this song, Cudi says, “All of these emotions are pouring out of me. I bring them to the light for you, it’s only right.” This line is so impactful because mental health is a topic that contains a lot of stigmas and therefore people are less likely to open up and get the help they need. When artists like Kid Cudi talk about their struggles, it breaks those stigmas and helps people get the support they need.

In the last album in the trilogy, Man On The Moon III: The Chosen, Cudi connects with his fans and the world on another level. He finds ways to show people dealing with their demons that he hears them, he sees them, and he knows how they feel. Which is very important for mental health awareness. Cudi does this by making songs like “Sad People” and “4 Da Kidz.”

In these songs, Cudi says things like, “Feeling alone, just know you are not, we won’t leave you alone,” which shows just how supportive he is of his fans. Another track on the album, titled “The Void,” is favored by fans for its amazing production and determined lyrics. In the song, Cudi expresses how he’s doing his best to become the best version of himself and how he won’t let anything keep him from reaching his goals. Hearing songs like these can be extremely touching and motivating for others that have to go through internal battles of their own. On another track, he also talks about how it’s difficult to grow as a person and win those battles without having love for yourself. Self-hatred and negative self-talk are things that people all around the world struggle with. Being upfront and talking about these struggles encourages people to do the same.

Kid Cudi has been a big name in the music industry since 2009 when he released the first album in the trilogy, but since then he’s released other albums and done collaborations with multiple other artists to branch out. One of his more memorable collaborations was in 2016 with Willow Smith, professionally known as Willow, on the track “Rose Golden.” The song yet again touches on mental health and the journey to achieve inner peace. Another fan favorite was Cudi’s joint album with Kanye West, Kids See Ghosts, with popular tracks like “Freeee” and “Reborn.” The album was a monumental moment for both Kid Cudi and Kanye. Representing a strong friendship and deep understanding between two of the most talented artists in the community was a big step for their careers at the time. Connecting with other artists builds the music industry and brings together the creators and supporters.

The amount of people that keep to themselves instead of opening up and getting support is astronomical. That’s why people with platforms, like Cudi, are doing their best in trying to help out. Kid Cudi, Mr. Rager, and Scott Mescudi: a man with a dream and a passion for music. By using his discography as a voice, he’s able to continue his pursuit of happiness while supporting others in doing the same.
