Ever since March 22, 2013, a favorite band of a bunch of people has been separated and on their own journeys. My Chemical Romance broke hearts by the breakup letter on the band website using the phrase “it’s not a band, it’s an idea” a few years ago, but on October 31, 2019, the fan theories came true about their reunion. A post on My Chemical Romance’s Instagram page showed a picture of an angel statue titled “Return”, a show date and location at the bottom of the picture as well. The internet boomed after this post was uploaded, and everyone was frantic to get their hands on the tickets for December 20th’s show. The tickets sold out in 4 minutes after the release of the sale of tickets, the tickets being $150 without taxes.

Since the release of the first post, My Chemical Romance has been uploading posts saying that they will be at a festival such as the Download Festival in Australia, and they even came out with a few more shows outside of the US. Many fans are hoping for a tour, or maybe even more music. Many theories point to a release of a tour or release of a new album, but who knows what will come true?

On December 20th, My Chemical Romance had their first reunion show in Los Angeles, many fans excited to watch their favorite band on stage. Fans at home were even excited to watch live streams of the concert, just wanting to live in the moment even if they couldn’t be there. The setlist consisted of more well-known songs such as “Welcome to the Black Parade”, “I’m Not Okay (I Promise)”, and “Teenagers”, and also had a song never played live before, “Make Room!!!!”

After the show, on January 9th, the band posted a video on Instagram which loops with symbols, a few examples being a moon with a star, a hand holding a wand, and a few symbols that look like they could be zodiac signs but aren’t. There’s also a United Kingdom flag that flashes on the screen briefly, which could be hinting at a tour in the United Kingdom, or possibly just a show.

At the mention of theories brought up earlier, Frank Iero came out with a statement saying that he’s been hinting at the reunion all along, one of the biggest hints being that during an interview, he said that “that rumor is like a broken clock” as a broken clock is right twice a day, yet many people thought he meant to say a broken record, which just repeats itself over and over. He also came out with the fact that Danger Days’ post-apocalyptic setting isn’t for no reason, and fans have been wearing shirts with “California 2019” for years without even thinking about it alluding to a reunion.

My Chemical Romance is back, and a lot of people are excited. Many fans are dedicating themselves to this time, and it’s fascinating to see such thrill. Whether or not they’re back permanently, it’s fun to see everyone have fun and to see the band enjoying themselves again after struggling with making the music for the last few years. Who knows what’s going to happen? We’ll have to wait and see.
