Letter From the Old Editor

Harley Tummond, Editor-in-Chief

Ever since I became Editor-in-Chief at the beginning of this school year, I had a line of succession for future editors already envisioned. It didn’t cross my mind that there could be a future editor who wasn’t Lizzie Lohrer. We both began writing for The Advocate at the same time: her freshman year and my junior year, and I don’t doubt that by her junior year she will have the ability to take our newspaper by the reins and guide it in whatever direction she desires.

I’m extremely proud of what The Advocate has accomplished during the 2018-2019 school year. This is the first time in many years that we’ve actually had a journalism class on campus, and we have had so many more opportunities to expand and grow as an organization. Next year, I am sure that everything we have built up since 2015 will be expanded immensely.

Following my time as Editor-in-Chief, I hope to continue writing and growing the skills I have developed while being a part of the FGHS newspaper. Through my time here, I have developed an unwavering passion for journalism, and I am enthusiastic to work for newspapers in my future and cultivate my skills in this field.

Thank you to everyone who has written for and read The Advocate this school year. I am confident that it will flourish through the years to come, especially under the watch of Lizzie Lohrer.
