The Environment In The Journalism Class Is Great For Writers

Alondra Pineda, Writer

In the Journalism classroom, with Ms. Nelson teaching us and amazing editors at our sides, the class is amazing and fun to be in. Writers need a good environment to be in when they need to focus on their writing. This class helps us, the writers, stay focused by having a block dedicated to brainstorming, which is just a class block where we can come up with article ideas as a whole class. We then have another block where we start writing and then one block where we are editing and finishing up our articles. Something else that helps the writers is having “silent time” thirty minutes before the end of the class.

Having separate blocks for certain tasks is a very helpful and a great thing for the writers because some writers need a whole block just to brainstorm since they might not always have an idea of what they want to write. The silent time that the writers are given at the end of classes is actually really helpful as well because sometimes the writers need time to themselves where they aren’t distracted by others around them. The class, in general, is a great place for writers since they always are given opportunities to improve their writing and have a workplace where they always feel comfortable.
