Forest Grove Fall Sport Interviews
Sport Activities:
Are you wondering how the sports are going… they are going well! I had the pleasure of interviewing a few of the incredible athletes from a few our current school sports to see how they are enjoying their season so far and this is what had to say;
Volleyball:
I interviewed Beautystar Yim, who is a Junior this year at Forest Grove High School, to check in on how the season was going for the girls JV volleyball team and she told me, “the season is great so far, we’ve only lost two games and have more coming up,” I also asked Yim, how is she handling school and volleyball, she explained, “I study before games and I also study when we’re on the bus.”
I thought this was important to know for those students who are wondering how can they handle playing a sport, and trying to stay on top of school because there is time to squeeze into your busy schedule for your homework or studying.
Cross Country:
I also checked in with Samuel Rodriguez whos on the JV cross country team he’s a Junior this year at Forest Grove High School, to see how he was enjoying the season and how Cross Country is doing. I asked Samuel how the season for him is going and he answered with “ The season is pretty good so far. We’ve won I think all the races we have been in. This is my first year doing cross country and I’m really enjoying it.” I then asked Samuel why he decided to join cross country and he told me, “ I joined because I like to run. I wanted to try something new that I always thought about trying.” With Samuel telling me this was his first year joining cross country I asked him, are you happy with the way your season started? He told me “ I might have started a little late but I’m happy with the things that are going, it’s a lot better than I thought it was going to be.” With Samuel telling me this, I wanted to say that it’s not too late to go out and try something you have loved doing, joining sports is very easy and fun and everyone here at Forest Grove High School is welcoming!
If you have been on the fence on joining a sport, go at it and try something new maybe you will like it a lot more then you have thought. I know a handful of students here who have thought that they weren’t good at a sport but ended up going to practices and tryouts to find out they were really good at the sport and made a tea. It’s not the end of the world if you’re not the best at a sport but everyone has their strengths and weaknesses, so maybe one your strengths is a sport here at Forest Grove High School!
Taylor is a Junior here at FGHS. She works at The Pink Spoon in Forest Grove, and her favorite flavor there is their homemade Butterfinger frozen yogurt.
