On February 21st, the AFC Champions, the Kansas City Chiefs, will be returning to the Super Bowl against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Both teams had a strong season this year as they have made the playoffs and defeated any football team that tried to stand in the way of their hopes to be in the Super Bowl. Starting with Kansas City Chiefs, they entered the playoffs with only two losses on their record to the Las Vegas Raiders and the Los Angeles Chargers. Since they only lost two games, they got a first-round bye, meaning they did not have to play in the first round of the playoffs. In the playoffs, the Chiefs beat the Browns 22-17 and got into the AFC Championship versus the Bills. In their game with the Bills, they smoked them 38-24 and punched their ticket to the Super Bowl. The Chiefs had some luck in last year’s Super Bowl as they won it very late in the fourth quarter, but can they win again against a very game Tampa Bay Buccaneers?

On the NFC side: the Tampa Bay Buccaneers made it into the playoffs with an 11-5 record. The teams that Tampa Bay Buccaneers lost against consist of their Super Bowl rival, the Kansas City Chiefs, Los Angeles Rams, New Orlean Saints, Chicago Bears, and another loss to the New Orlean Saints. With five losses, they had to play three games and win to get into the Super Bowl. In the first round, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers won against the Washington Football Team 31-23. Their second round caught everyone off guard, however. Notice that in the regular season, they lost to the New Orlean Saints twice. That just so happened to be their competition in the second round. Shockingly, they turned it around and won 30-20. In the NFC Championship, they faced the best NFC opponent, the Green Bay Packers. The game expected to be about a 15 point difference in favor of the Packers, but that did not happen. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers went on the road to win 31-26, earning their way to the Super Bowl.

With both of these two teams in the Super Bowl, only one football team walks out as champions. It is important to note that Tampa Bay will be playing on their turf come to the Super Bowl, which may grant them a home-field advantage in winning the Super Bowl. Kansas City is the stronger, more united team, but at the same time, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers wanted it so bad they beat a team they lost to twice and the best team in the NFC. I do not have a horse in this Super Bowl showdown, but I predict the underdog in the Buccaneers will beat the Chiefs; here’s why. The Chiefs lost to two not so great teams, while the Buccaneers won against teams that they had a hard time overcoming. My score prediction is the Buccaneers winning 41-34 against the Chiefs.
