Why Peer Pressure Needs To Stop
Peer pressure has been everywhere throughout time. Peer pressure can be one of the most destructive things that can really affect the way someone’s personality or mindset changes due to the stress it produces. Peer pressure is very stressful and can make you feel to be forced to do something you don’t exactly want, which can really mess with your head.
Peer pressure can end as a really bad thing, It can turn out to be really harmful and can affect you in the most harmful ways if the person doesn’t know their limits and the peer groups keep on influencing them. Peer pressure really is mostly used in a bad context and can really make someone go the wrong way in life if they start to get stressed enough it’s just going to be even harder on the person mentally since they have all this stress in their life. Peer pressure really can be more harmful to teens because people around teens are really the people that are helping them to shape their identity. If their peers are advising that they should do drugs, then they might take that advice and could destroy their life.
Peer pressure can really be an unexpected thing for someone that is not used to it, but teens are usually the ones that may be struggling with it more since they are young and don’t have any big responsibility. Teens are mostly influenced by friends and peers and, their peers are mostly the ones that help shape their identity and their lives because they are their role models, the people they look up to. If the peers or friends influence them to do something they know it’s not a good thing, then they start debating if whether to do the bad actions or not. Peer pressure can really get in the head of a teen because when it comes to peer pressure many teens don’t really become indecisive. Saying “no” is a really big thing that teenagers need to know how to use and when because if they are not comfortable saying no even though they know it’s not a good thing. That just shows that they have low self-esteem.
Peer pressure can really mess with the confidence of anyone and will eventually start to affect their daily life and it will be just make everything go wrong in their life. The effects of peer pressure can mess with the success and progress of someone. Most of the time it causes others to change their good habits to bad habits that later on just end up messing even more with their mental stability. Research also shows how peer pressure can cause someone to have a bad attitude or unkind demeanor.
Think about when you were a teenager and you were worried about grades, homework, your job, and your peers pressure you to be better to work more hours, and you know you need to work more. Most people just keep on bothering you with it, which then makes you stress about it even more. Some peers don’t realize they are pressuring you so much to the point you can’t take it anymore and you just want to explode. If you say no, then it will most likely be the best option because you know what’s best for you and you don’t want people to choose what you need to stress about. So, if you can call them out on it, speak for yourself. Be able to say, “I get that you are trying to be encouraging but you’re stressing me out and I just need some space to get everything intact and lose all the stress around me.”

Peer pressure is not always bad, sometimes it can really help out in some situations. However, I do agree that most of the time peer pressure is quite bad. Great job on the article!

Jennifer, I really like your article, and how strong your opinion of stopping peer pressure. I can imagine many teens reading this and realizing that they might have some peer pressure friends themselves.
