Happy Gilmore was a movie made in 1996. It stars the famous actor Adam Sandler, who plays the main role in the movie, a guy named Happy Gilmore who tries to pursue his dreams in hockey but gets rejected by everyone. He then is noticed for the amazing power behind his swing when he and his friends decide to practice a few golf swings in their neighborhood. His friends were astonished by his power and started making bets which gave Happy a great idea: he was going to have people bet on how far he could hit the golf ball at the golf course. He is soon recognized by an old professional who tries to get Happy to let him coach him because he sees great potential in him, but Happy refuses every time he is asked until the old professional mentions money. Happy then rethinks this offer after he realizes that he needs the money to help his grandma who is in serious debt and is soon to lose her house. Happy then goes on the professional golf tour where the 1st place winner gets a grand prize of $216,000 which is enough to save his grandma’s house. He goes on to play in many competitions, placing second in all of them against his rival who places first in all of them. Although Happy is known as a strange and weird man on the golf course, that’s what got him recognized. Not only for his power behind his swing but because he is far more unique than everyone else. He is the new “excitement.”

Towards the middle of the movie, Happy gets suspended from the tour because of a conflict that he had with his opponent. His opponent then buys his grandma’s house at an auction to try to get Happy to quit the tour. This leads Happy to go to the guy who originally got Happy on the tour for some practice at mini-golf. Happy struggles at first but then gets the hang of it and is ready for the tour. As we get towards the end of the movie Happy gets back into the tour and is ready to win it all. He keeps up with his opponent Shooter McGavin and brings a big competition to the tour. As they fight for first place, Shooter McGavin starts to get angry because what he thought would be an easy tour turns out to be one of the biggest competitions he has ever faced. Shooter then tries to get the easy way out and hire someone to hurt Happy but it doesn’t turn out the way he wanted. Happy ends up struggling with his injury but that doesn’t stop him, he ends up coming back and winning the tournament. He buys his grandma’s house back and enjoys the rest of his life.

This movie was an overall 10/10 and it is a movie I would recommend to others. It has a great storyline and not only that, but it also has one of the best actors in it. It’s almost like a motivational/inspirational movie telling you to never give up when times are rough. Overall this movie is definitely one of my favorites, and it is one I can watch over and over again.
